TRTA has partnered with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to promote the Texercise program. Texercise is a great way to stay active in retirement. DADS is setting up many locations for you to get involved in the program.

Physical activity is important for older adults as it can reduce risk of chronic conditions and improve mental health. Texercise is the best way to stay fit and healthy during retirement. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends and see old acquintances.

DADS to Host Training Session at TRTA Convention

Chelsea Couch, the Texercise Program Coordinator, will be hosting a training session about Texercise at the TRTA Convention on Monday, April 11, 2016. The session will provide resources for retirees to age well and live well. The session will take place in the Monarch Room on Level 24 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. and again from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Foster Grandparents Help Kids and Themselves

The Foster Grandparents program (FGP), administered in Texas by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, invites volunteers age 55 and older to serve young people in their communities.

The program, “helps grandparents take care of people who have so much to gain from our knowledge and care and attention,” said Foster Grandparent Deborrah Robinson. “What we bring is the love and attention they need.”
